2024 route

In the 2024 Peace and Dignity Journeys, runners will embark in May on a seven-month prayer run from Fairbanks, Alaska running south and in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina running north, with runners converging in November to finish up in El Cuaca, Colombia. Throughout the route, local community runners join in the run, relieving the PDJ core runners for portions for the run, while also contributing the prayers of their own families and communities. Tributary runs also take place, joining the run at different locations throughout the main route, further contributing to the prayer run. This journey emphasizes the commitment to prayer, underlining the obligation to strengthen spiritual connections among Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island (North, Central and South America). The runners' dedication transcends geographical boundaries, underscoring the imperative nature of fostering unity and respect among Indigenous Peoples.

The Peace and Dignity Journeys run is scheduled to arrive on July 10th in the Central Coast, the land of this region’s first peoples - the Chumash, beginning in San Luis Obispo County, followed by Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Runners will be formally welcomed in a number of communities with ceremony, meals, water, and supplies, as well as other support, such as massage and medical check-ups.

The route through San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties will include community welcome stops, including some overnight stays and one full rest day. Community welcoming stops include, the Cities of Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Guadalupe and Santa Maria, the Santa Ynez Chumash Reservation, the City of Santa Barbara (including a tributary run from Isla Vista), Saticoy (including a tributary run from Oxnard), Cities of Santa Paula and Fillmore, before entering Tatavian Territory in the City of Santa Clarita.
